India’s live entertainment industry has expanded steadily over the last decade, largely through the scaling up of concerts, festivals, and large-format celebrations. What has remained limited, however, is the presence of long-running, ticketed immersive experiences designed to function as owned intellectual property rather than time-bound events. Shiva Immersive enters this landscape as an attempt to address that structural gap.
Conceptualised and produced by E-Factor Experiences Limited, Shiva Immersive is positioned as a permanent-format immersive installation that combines mythology-led storytelling with contemporary experience design and technology. The project marks a shift from episodic programming toward a model built around repeatability, operational consistency, and long-term monetisation.
According to Samit Garg, Co-Founder and CEO of E-Factor Experiences Limited, the starting point for Shiva Immersive was not scale but structure. “From the outset, the idea was to create something that could operate daily, over long periods of time, without being dependent on performers or seasonal programming. That meant designing the experience, the technology, and the business model together.”
Unlike conventional live formats that reset with each edition or tour, Shiva Immersive has been developed as a controlled, time-bound audience experience with defined throughput and predictable programming cycles. The installation relies on large-format projection, spatial audio, and cinematic sequencing to guide audiences through a narrative arc, while maintaining consistency across multiple shows each day.
Garg explains that the focus was on removing the volatility typically associated with live entertainment. “One of the biggest challenges in this industry is that success is often temporary. You may sell out a show or a season, but then you start again from zero. With Shiva Immersive, we wanted to build something that could retain value over time.”
From an operational perspective, the project follows a high-capex, long-run model, where upfront investment is intended to be amortised across extended runs and potential multi-city deployments. This structure allows for stable weekday programming, peak weekend pricing, and a pricing range that accommodates families, students, tourists, and institutional audiences.
On the commercial side, Garg notes that accessibility was a deliberate consideration. “The experience had to be premium in execution, but not exclusive in pricing. If immersive formats are to work in India, they need to attract repeat visits and diverse audiences, not just one-time curiosity.”
The emphasis on repeatability and portability also positions Shiva Immersive differently from traditional cultural exhibitions. The format has been designed to travel, adapt to new venues, and potentially operate across multiple cities, while retaining a consistent core narrative and technical framework.
For E-Factor, Shiva Immersive represents a broader strategic transition. After more than two decades as an execution-led live experiences company, the organisation is increasingly focusing on developing and owning original experiential IP. Garg describes this as a necessary evolution. “Execution will always be part of our DNA, but long-term value comes from ownership. Shiva Immersive is an example of how we are approaching that shift.”
The project also reflects changing audience behaviour within India’s experience economy. As Garg observes, “Audiences today are willing to engage with cultural content outside of traditional religious or festival contexts, provided it is presented with clarity, quality, and intent.”
Shiva Immersive is still early in its lifecycle, and its long-term trajectory will be defined by operational performance, audience retention, and scalability. What it establishes, however, is a working template for immersive, IP-led experiences in India—one that prioritises structure, ownership, and longevity over short-term spectacle.
As India’s live entertainment sector continues to evolve, projects like Shiva Immersive offer insight into how experiential formats may increasingly be conceived, financed, and sustained in the years ahead.
